DHAKA, June 10, 2019 (BSS) – The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) today
suspended its director Khandaker Enamul Basir for allegedly leaking out
information of a probe and violating official discipline.

ACC chairman Iqbal Mahmood confirmed the matter while talking to reporters
in front of the Commission’s headquarters here this afternoon.

“The ACC was not embarrassed after an allegation was raised against him
(Khandaker Enamul Basir),” he said.

Mahmood said the national anti-graft agency has already formed a three-
member committee to probe the allegation raised against the ACC director.

The committee comprised of ACC secretary Mohammad Delwar Bakth (convener),
and its directors general Md Mofizul Islam Bhuiyan (legal) and Sayeed Mahbub
Khan (admin).

The committee has already submitted its probe report. After scrutinising
the report, the ACC suspended its director Khandaker Enamul Basir for
allegedly leaking out information of a probe and violating official
discipline, an ACC press release said.

“Enamul has been withdrawn from the inquiry into the allegation of
accumulating illegal wealth by DIG Minzanur Rahman. A committee was formed to
probe the allegation raised against Enamul. But, Enamul told the committee
that he did not take bribe,” the ACC chief said.

Replying to a question, he said the recorded conversations between DIG
Mizanur Rahman and Enamul will be sent to the authorities concerned for
forensic test to know its accuracy.

There was an allegation that ACC director Enamul took Taka 40 lakh in bribe
from deputy inspector general (DIG) of police Mizanur Rahman, alluring to
skip him from a graft allegation.
