Khalid expresses satisfaction over Eid journey on waterways
DHAKA, June 09, 2019 (BSS) – State Minister for Shipping Khalid Mahmud today expressed his satisfaction over the smooth journey of the holidaymakers on the river routes during Eid-ul-Fitr as the government took all necessary measures to this end.
“With the combined efforts of all authorities concern, we have ensured safe and accident-free journey for the holidaymakers on the river routes during the Eid and we are satisfied so far,” he said.
He came up with the remarks while exchanging greetings with the officials and journalists after the Eid vacation at the ministry’s conference room at the Secretariat.
The state minister thanked the local administration, Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) and Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) for discharging their duties with utmost sincerity during the period.
The Paturia-Daulatdia, Aricha-Nagarbari, Bhola-Lakshmipur and Chandpur launch ghats will be expanded in phases, he added.
He sought the co-operation of all to ensure better passenger services in the days to come.
Md Abdus Samad, secretary of Ministry of Shipping, was present on the occasion.
