One killed in Nawabganj gunfight with police
DHAKA, June 9, 2019 (BSS) – An allegedly terrorist was killed in a reported gunfight with police in Nawabganj upazila in the district in the early hours of today.
The deceased Ripon, 35, was wanted in 13 cases including Nawabganj double murder case.
Officer-in-Charge of Nawabganj Thana Mostofa Kamal said at a press briefing this afternoon. Six police men were also injured in the gunfight, he added.
Ripon Mollah was an inhabitant in Rajoiro upazila of Madaripur district.
Police said they arrested Ripon Mollah from Dakhin Keraniganj area yesterday.
Last night, police went out with Ripon Mollah for recovering arms.
On the way to Danger Chak area on Majirkanda-Mahabbotpur Road, Ripon’s associates fired on police. In retaliation, police also fired on them. Ripon Mollah was injured by bullets in the gunfight.
Police brought him to Nawabganj Upazila Health Complex where the duty doctor declared him dead.
Police also recovered a foreign-made revolver, three bullets and sharp weapon from the spot at the end of the gunfight.
