Public hospitals remain open on Eid holidays

provide regular healthcare services to patients during holidays of Eid-ul-
Fitr like every year.

However, the services in the outdoor department will be on limited sphere.

Separate roasters of each of departments have already been prepared to
ensure usual medical treatment and healthcare facilities at public hospitals.

Operation theatres will remain open and special teams will be in
supervision to render medical services to patients during Eid holidays.

The number of doctors will be less than normal period.

Health and Family Welfare Minister Zahid Maleaque has already instructed
doctors to ensure regular medical treatment and healthcare facilities at the
public hospitals during the upcoming holidays.

Talking to BSS, the minister said, “No negligence in rendering medical
treatment to patients in hospitals will be tolerated. Attendance of doctors
should be ensured in all hospitals in accordance with roaster system.
Stringent punishment will be handed down against those who will be found
guilty of negligence to their duties in services to patients.”

“In this regard, the Health Directorate had already send directives to all
the civil surgeons and persons concerned across the country,” Director
General of Health Services Professor Dr Abul Kalam Azad told BSS.

“We have formed 28 teams to serve medical treatment to patients during Eid
holidays,” Deputy Director of Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College told BSS.

All necessary initiatives have already been taken to ensure normal medical
treatment at the National Institute of Traumatology and Orthopaedic
Rehabilitation (NITOR), said Professor Dr Jahangir Alam.

Besides, all the civil surgeons of all the districts have been given
directives to store necessary medicines and equipment in the health complexes
with doctors, nurses, ambulances and medical teams so that post-primary
treatment could be provided to patients three days before and four days after
Eid in case of any incident.

Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) will serve patients at
outdoor department while specialized services would be closed.

Public hospitals will serve special meal to the patients on Eid day.
