Cocktail attack on police car was to attract financers: CID
DHAKA, May 30, 2019 (BSS) – The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) today said that the recent cocktail attack on a police car in the city’s Malibagh area was carried out only to attract financers’ attention to raise funds.
“The attackers carried out the recent cocktail attack to attract the financers’ attention. They tried to show the financers that they are still active so that they can collect more funds,” CID Chief and Additional IGP Mohammad Shafiqul Islam said at a press briefing at CID Headquarters in the city.
The attackers also tried to grow fear among the law enforcers, he added.
The cocktail blast was carried out on Sunday in a pickup van behind a parked car of police’s Special Branch (SB) under the flyover near a refueling station in city’s Malibagh area as the cocktail was planted beforehand there.
Assistant Sub-Inspector Rasheda Akhatun and a Rickshaw puller Lal Miah were injured in the attack.
Rasheda is now undergoing treatment at Razarbag central police hospital.
