Archery team leaves for Netherlands on June 7

DHAKA, May 30, 2019 (BSS)- The Bangladesh men’s and women’s archery teams will leave for Netherlands to take part in the World Archery Championship with a hope to bring good result from the championship.

The championship is scheduled to be held on June 9-16 with the participation of record number of eighty six countries.

Bangladesh will compete in recurve division and compound division. The recurve division included men’s singles and doubles, women’s singles and mixed team event while the compound division include men’s singles, women’s singles and team event.

The competition will be held in ranking and elimination round.

City Group is the main sponsor while the National Sports Council is the co sponsor of the Netherland bound archery team.

Addressing at a press conference held on Thursday at conference room of Bangladesh Olympic Association, Bangladesh Archery Federation (BAF) general secretary Kazi Rajib Uddin Ahmed Chapal hoped that the archers would able to bring a good result from the championship.

He said though the archers failed to win any meal in the last Archery World Cup but they showed their best in the event and this time the archers also try to do well in the championship.

Team’s head coach Martin Frederic is also optimistic with the archery team and hoped the archers would able to bring a good result from the championship as they have an international standard archer like Ruman Sana.

City Group executive director Jafar Uddin Siddique, senior vice president Mahfuzur Rahman Siddique and BAF vice president Anisur Rahman Dipu, were among others, present on the occasion.

Bangladesh Archery teams:

Ruman Sana (archer recurve), Mohammad Tamimul Islam (archer recurve), Hakim Ahmed Rubul(archer recurve), Beauty Roy (archer recurve, women’s), Asim Kumar Das (archer compound) and Susmita Bonik (archer compound, womens).

Officials: Farque Dhali (team manager), Martin Frederic (head coach), Ziaul Haque (assistant coach).
