5 establishments fined Tk 10-lakh in Rangpur
RANGPUR, May 24, 2019 (BSS) – A mobile court of Rapid Action Battalion
(RAB-13) in day-long anti-adulteration drives on Thursday fined five
establishments Taka 10-lakh and destroyed huge adulterated foodstuffs and
polythene worth Taka 20-lakh in the city.
“Led by Executive Magistrate Anisur Rahman from RAB headquarters, the court
conducted drives at different areas of the city with participation of
officials of Bangladesh Standard and Testing Institute (BSTI) and other
organisations,” a press release said today.
The mobile court fined ‘Fulkuri Lachhcha Bread and Confectionery’ at
Jalkor area of the city Taka three-lakh for producing adulterated foodstuffs,
seized and destroyed huge quantity of adulterated foodstuffs worth Taka 3.80-
lakh as per the laws concerned.
Later, the court fined ‘Everyday Food Factory’ Taka one-lakh in the same
area, seized huge adulterated foodstuffs worth Taka three-lakh produced under
unhygienic and dirty environment and destroyed those as per the laws
concerned.
The mobile court fined ‘Sonali Bakery’ Taka two-lakh for producing and
marketing adulterated vermicelli in unhygienic and dirty environment at
nearby Jalochhatara area, seized huge adulterated foodstuffs worth Taka
three-lakh and destroyed those.
The mobile court fined “Messer’s Mala Printing and Packaging Factory Taka
two-lakh at Honumantola area of the city, seized huge quantity of illegally
produced polythene sheet worth about Taka 10-lakh and destroyed those in the
afternoon.
“Besides, the mobile court fined ‘Mithu Hotel and Restaurant’ at Mithu Mour
area, seized huge adulterated foodstuffs worth Taka 20,000 and destroyed
those as per the laws concerned,” the release added.
