Practice of culture can prevent women oppression: Murad
DHAKA, May 23, 2019 (BSS) – State minister for information Dr Murad Hasan today said the practice of Bengali culture can play an important role in preventing the oppression of women.
“In our four thousand years-old Bengali culture, women have never been humiliated, rather they have been honored in many aspects… our culture should have to be spread for this reason,” he said.
He said this while addressing a discussion on ‘Role of Culture in the prevention of women’s oppression’ which was organized by the Bangiya Sahitya – Sanskriti Sangsad at VIP Seminar hall of Public Library in city’s Shahbag area.
Murad Hassan also said both culture and religion show respect towards women which also helps stopping women oppression.
With Poet Asim Saha in the chair, the discussion was also addressed, among others, by Dr Masud Pathik, poet Aslam Sani and cultural activist FM Shaheen.
Dr Shahdat Hossain Nipu conducted the discussion.
