Four get death for Monir murder in Kamrangirchar
DHAKA, May 23, 2019 (BSS) – A Dhaka court today sentenced four persons
including victim’s former wife in a case lodged over murder of land broker
Monir Hossain at suburban Kamrangirchar in 2013.
Dhaka speedy trial tribunal-1 Judge Abu Jafar Md Qamruzzaman passed the
order, sentencing Monir’s former wife Swarna Akhter Kakoli, her present
husband Sharif Matubbar, Anwar Hossain Molla and Ibrahim Khalil to death.
Of the four convicts, Swarna Akhter Kakoli and Anwar Hossain Molla were
present during pronouncement of the judgement.
According to the case documents, Kakoli, a prostitute, married Monir and
divorced him two-year later. She then married Sharif but Monir often used to
disturb her for the money and ornaments he gave her.
On April 17, 2013, Kakoli called Monir over phone and as he came to her
house, Kakoli with the help of her husband Sharif, customers Anwar and
Ibrahim, killed Monir by cutting his throat.
Monir’s wife Hasina Begum filed the case with Kamrangirchar Police
Station and police on May 14, 2013, filed charge sheet against the four.
Kakoli, Sharif and Anwar were arrested and gave confessional statements
before court.
The court today came up with the judgement after examining 23 out of
total 39 witnesses in the case.
