Eid advance train ticket sale begins today

DHAKA, May 22, 2019 (BSS) – Bangladesh Railway (BR) today started sale of
advance tickets ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr, one of the biggest religious festivals
of the Muslim Ummah, to make Eid holidaymakers’ journey smooth.

According to Bangladesh Railway, taking Eid possible date on June 5 into
consideration, tickets for the journey on May 31 is being sold today.

Tickets were sold from five railway stations across the country for the
first time today to ease the sufferings to the ticket-seekers. Earlier only
Kamlapur Railway Station usually sells the advance tickets every year.

As per the decision of the concerned ministry, 50 percent of the tickets
are scheduled to be sold through online apps.

Since early today, huge people gathered the Kamlapur Railway Station to
purchase the advance tickets.

Visiting the station, long queues were seen at the station at 10 am.
Railways Minister Md Nurul Islam Sujan visited the overall activities of
the ticket sale.

He enquired about the problems and different complaints of the home-goers
and assured them of resolving the existing problems including the e-ticketing
problem within the shortest possible time.

Talking to journalist, the railways minister said the mobile court in
cooperation with the deputy commissioners (DCs) will vigil to prevent any
sorts of irregularities and black-marketing of tickets centering the Eid
festival.

” The law enforcement agencies, specially GRP, RNB, local police and anti-
crime elite force RAB will conduct its drive at different big stations across
the country including, Dhaka, Dhaka Bimanbandar station, Joydebpur,
Chattogram, Mymensingh, Sylhet, Rajshahi, and Khulna to check any black-
marketing of tickets,” he added.

Earlier, a team of Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) also visited the
Kamlapur Rail Station. The team also talked to the station manager, rail and
officials concerned of the Computer Network Systems (CNS) Limited.

The BR will operate 16 specials trains on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr this
year while the Sholakia Special trains 1 and 2 will be available on the Eid
day to ease devotees’ journey to attend the country’s biggest congregation at
Sholakia Eidgah ground in Kishoreganj, railway sources said.

This year, a total of 27 thousands train tickets will be sold every day in
Dhaka and passengers can collect their tickets directly from the counters or
via mobile apps, they added.

However, tickets for June 1, 2, 3 and 4 will be sold on May 23, 24, 25,
and 26 respectively.

Holidaymakers can buy tickets from 5 points including Kamlapur Railway
Station counter.

BR sources said advance tickets for trains running via Jamuna Bridge will
be available at Kamlapur Railway Station.

Tickets for both Netrokona bound Mohanganj’ and ‘Haor Express’, will be
available at Banani as intercity railway tickets for travelling to
Chattogram-Noakhali and Sylhet-Kishoreganj will be available at Airport
Station and Fulbaria old Railway Building.
