Why fire-fighting system not be installed in public vehicles: HC

DHAKA, May 22, 2019 (BSS) – The High Court (HC) today issued a rule asking
authorities concerned to explain in four weeks as to why it shall not pass
order to install fire-fighting system in public and private vehicles.

The High Court division bench comprising Justice FRM Nazmul Ahasan and
Justice KM Kamrul Kader passed the order, after holding hearing on a writ
petition filed in this regard.

“The court also asked the respondents to explain why it shall not pass
order to make the compulsory provision of installing fire-fighting system
effective while approving route permit of buses. The court asked officials
including Transport Secretary, Home Affairs Secretary, Inspector General of
Police and BRTA Chairman to respond to the rule,” Syed Misbahul Anwar, who
moved the writ before court, told newsmen.

A Supreme Court lawyer Abul Barakat Md Sazzad Al Bari filed the writ
saying vehicles catch fire on many occasions due to overheating of their
engines and it is needed to install fire-fighting system in vehicles.
