JS body against condensate import

DHAKA, May 19, 2019 (BSS) – The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Power,
Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry today recommended that condensate
should not be imported.

The committee strongly recommended taking measures for not giving
permission to import condensate at any cost, according to a release.

This was recommended at the 3rd meeting held in the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban
with its Chairman M Shahiduzzaman Sarkar in the chair.

M Abu Zahir, M Ali Asghar, SM Jaglul Haider, M Nurul Islam Talukder, M
Aslam Hossain Sawdagar, Mst Khaleda Khanam and Begum Nargis Rahman attended
the meeting.

The committee also advised that price of condensate should not cross the
price of imported fuel. It also recommended not giving permission to set up
more condensate plants.

The standing committee discussed celebration of the ‘Mujib Barsha’ (Birth
Centenary of Bangabandhu) 2020 and its working plan and preparation by the
ministry. It advised the ministry to include its chairman and members in all
programmes of the ministry for celebration of the ‘Mujib Barsha’. The
committee was informed that 84 recommendations were fully implemented out of
110 in the 10th Jatiya Sangsad.

Moreover, the standing committee discussed the challenges, plans and
progress taken by the government for supplying 5,000 mmcfd gas by 2023.

Among others energy secretary Abu Hena M Rahmatul Munim and officials
concerned were present at the meeting.
