JS body for safe travel of homebound passengers during Eid

DHAKA, May 16, 2019 (BSS) – The Parliamentary Standing Committee on
Ministry of Road Transport and Bridges today recommended the ministry to take
necessary measures for ensuring safe travel of homebound passengers and
reducing traffic jam on the highways during the holy Eid-Ul-Fitr.

The committee also suggested that the ministry should take necessary steps
to remove the electric pillars and the speed breakers along the highways.

The recommendations were made during the first meeting of this standing
committee held at Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban with its chairman M Ekabbor Hossain
in the chair, said a press release.

The meeting discussed in details overall activities of the road transport
and highways division and the bridges division. The meeting was informed that
the overall physical progress of the Padma Multipurpose bridge project was
sixty seven percent till April this year.

At the very outset of the meeting, a munazat was offer seeking full
recovery of road transport and bridges minister and Awami League General
Secretary Obaidul Quader.

Committee members Enamul Hoque, M Hasibur Rahman Shwapon,M Abu Jahir, M
Salimuddin Tarafder, Syed Abu Hossain and Rabeya Alim were present at the
meeting.
