Biman adds new aircraft

DHAKA, May 16, 2019 (BSS) – Biman Bangladesh Airlines added its 14th aircraft, a Boeing 737-800 to its fleet today.

The national flag carrier brought the aircraft on lease from Kuwait’s Alfaco Company that arrived at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) here around 3:25 am this morning, Biman’s spokesperson Shakil Meraj told BSS.

Biman will add another Boeing 737-800 aircraft on lease next month while the Boeing Company is scheduled to deliver two more brand new Dream liners 787 in July and September next, he said.

With today’s addition, Biman fleet number has reached to 14 with four Boeing 777-300 ER, two Boeing 787 and two Boeing 737-800 ER by its own and three Boeing 737-800 ER and three Dash 8 Q 400 on lease.

Currently, Biman operates on 16 international and all domestic routes. It carried 26 lakh passengers durring last fiscal year. Recently, Biman resumed its Dhaka Delhi direct flight and it is set to operate Dhaka-Guangzhou-Dhaka flight from July next.
