HC wants report on milk, yogurt adulteration by June 23
DHAKA, May 15, 2019 (BSS) – The High Court (HC) today ordered Bangladesh
Food Safety Authority (BFSA) and Bangladesh Standard Testing Institution
(BSTI) to conduct test on all the liquid milk and yogurt brands available in
market and submit report by June 23.
Justice Md Nazrul Islam Talukder and Justice KM Hafizul Alam passed the
order, asking the authorities concerned to submit list of people and
companies involved in such crimes.
The court also asked Prof Dr Shahnnila Ferdousi, head of the National
Food Safety Laboratory to appear before it on May 21 along with her report on
liquid cow milk.
Today was fixed for submitting report on milk and yogurt adulteration
and holding hearing on it. But BSTI and BFSA failed to comply with the order
and pleaded for time instead.
The court at that time expressed its annoyance, saying none will be
allowed to play with human lives.
