Workshop on strengthening gender equality held in Gaibandha

GAIBANDHA, May 14, 2019 (BSS) – A sharing workshop on Strengthening Gender Equality and Social Inclusion in Wash in Bangladesh (SOMOTA) project was held at the conference room of Sadar upazila parishad of the town here on Tuesday.

SKS Foundation, a local reputed non-government organization, organized the workshop with UNO Uttam Kumar Roy in the chair.

Sadar upazila parishad chairman Shah Sarwar Kabir addressed the function as the chief guest while representatives from local government bodies, rights activists and officials, among others, were present at the function.

Funded by Department of Foreign Affairs Australia and supported by World
Vision Bangladesh, the project would continue in the unions of the upazilas
till December, 2022 and as many as 19,361 beneficiaries of the district would
be brought under the project, the project sources said.

To promote the condition of safe water, sanitation and health habit for
girls and children in schools and people with differently able, a number of
organizations including upazila parishad, upazila administration, upazila
health department, social services department and education department would
work as stakeholders, they added.

At the workshop, the speakers said the project would supplement the efforts
taken by the government to achieve the targets and indicators of Sustainable
Development Goals(SDG) by 2030.
