Construction underway at 10 educational institutions in Dinajpur

DINAJPUR, May 14, 2019 (BSS) – The construction works of academic buildings at 10 educational institutions for secondary and higher secondary levels are underway in Chirirbandar upazila of the district.

The estimated cost of Taka 20.65 crore for construction of 10 academic bhaban has been fixed, Executive Engineer of Dinajpur office under Education Engineering Department Md Zahidul Kabir said.

Following laying foundation stones, the construction work was formally inaugurated by former foreign minister AH Mahmood Ali, MP, at a function held today at Nanai Tikor under Chirirbandar upazila.

Upazila Nirbahi Officer Golam Rabbani, engineers and officials concerned, among others, were present at the function.

Mahmood Ali said the present government has implemented huge development programmes for improving quality of education in the past 10 years.

He said despite a number of challenges, Bangladesh have some remarkable and praiseworthy achievements in the education sector.

“Distribution of free textbooks among the students of primary and secondary levels, increased enrolment rate and eradicating gender inequality in primary and secondary education have already been acknowledged in different international forums,” Mahmood Ali added.

The Education Ministry sources said the construction works of nearly 33,000 buildings are underway to remove infrastructural problems at the educational institutions.

The construction works of academic are expected to be completed within this year, they added.
