Zia banned Bangabandhu’s March 7 speech: Abdur Rahman

NARAIL, May 13, 2019 (BSS) – Awami League Joint General Secretary Abdur Rahman today said BNP founder Ziaur Rahman had banned the playing of record of the historic March 7 speech of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman after his brutal assassination.

“Ziaur Rahman had banned playing of record of March 7 speech of Bangabandhu and he stopped the trail of Bangabandhu assassination making a black law,” he told a special extended meeting of Narail district unit of AL at a resort here.

Rahman said Zia even prohibited uttering the name of Bangabandhu.

Jatiya Sangsad Whip and AL Organizing Secretary Abu Sayeed Al Mahmud Swapan addressed the meeting as the chief discussant with district AL President Advocate Subhash Chandra Bose in the chair.

AL Central Working Committee Member SM Kamal Hossain, Advocate Md Amirul Islam Milon, Parvin Zaman Kalpana and Narail-1 lawmaker Kabirul Haque Mukti, addressed the function as special guests. District AL General Secretary Nijam Uddin Khan Nilu conducted it.

Abdur Rahman said the strength of Awami League is the leaders and workers at garrotes so that the party should be re-organized at grassroots.

He said council of district unit of AL would be held on September 25 and prior to that council of upazila and union units should also be held.

Sadar Upazila AL President Advocate Achin Chakrabarty, Pourashava AL President Moloy Kumar Kundu, Kaliya Upazila AL General Secretary and Upazila Chairman Krishnapada Ghosh and Naragati Thana AL General Secretary Khaja Najim Uddin, among others, spoke on the occasion.
