Deer rescued in Lakshmipur


LAKSHMIPUR, May 11, 2019 (BSS) – Police rescued a deer from the Meghna
river in Alexander area under Ramgati Upazila of the district today.

Police said local people found the deer floating in river water. On
information, they rescued the sick deer from the river this noon and sent it
to Upazila Livestock Office for treatment.

Police sources said the river stream might have brought the deer to
Alexander from Nijhum Dwip. Many deer came out from the island during cyclone
Fani as it was inundated by flood water.

Officer-in-Charge of Ramgati Thana ATM Ariful Haque said the adult deer was
handed over to Upazila Forest Officer.
