2 drug traders killed in Cox’s Bazar ‘gunfight’

COX’S BAZAR, May 9, 2019 (BSS) – Two suspected drug dealers were killed in
a gunfight with Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) at Diabetic Sea Beach Point in
the district town early hours today.

One of the deceased was identified as Mohammad Masum,31, son of Anu
Prodan, resident of West Notun Baharchora area in the town. The identity of
another deceased could not be known immediately.

A team of RAB-15 conducted a raid in the area around 4:30am after being
tipped-off that drug traders were coming there via sea, said RAB-15 camp in-
charge assistant police super (ASP) Md. Mahmudul Hasan Mamun.

Sensing the presence of RAB the drug traders opened fire on them, forcing
them to fire back, triggering the gunfight.

Later, RAB recovered two dead bodies from the spot.

The bodies were sent to Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital for autopsy.

RAB also recovered 10,000 pieces of Yaba tablets, two bullets and one
shooter gun from the spot, RAB said.
