Three get Rabindra Award 2019
DHAKA, May 8, 2019 (BSS) – Bangla Academy has conferred ‘Rabindra Award-
2019’ on researcher Professor Safiuddin Ahmed and Professor Begum Akter Kamal
and singer Iqbal Ahmed.
Professor Safiuddin Ahmed and Professor Begum Akter Kamal got the award
in recognition to their researches on Tagore while Iqbal Ahmed for practicing
Rabindra Sangeet (songs).
Bangla Academy Chairman Professor Emeritus Anisuzzaman and Director
General Habibullah Sirajee handed over the award to them at a function today.
Bangla Academy organised the function at its Abdul Karim Sahityabisharad
Auditorium marking the 158th birth anniversary of great poet Rabindranath
Tagore.
Professor Emeritus Anisuzzaman presided over the function while Professor
Anwarul Karim delivered a lecture on Rabindranath.
Later, a cultural function was held at the venue.
