VERDICT-MURDER-MOTHER
Son to die for killing mother
DHAKA, May 5, 2019 (BSS) – A Dhaka court today sentenced a man for killing
his mother Honufa Begum, also a cleaning staff of Dhaka City Corporation, in
2007.
Dhaka special district and sessions judge Begum Chaman Chowdhury passed the
judgement in absentia and issued warrant to arrest the convicted killer
Mobarak.
According to the case documents, Mobarak was a vagabond and used to torture
his mother for money.
“On August 24, 2007, he beat his mother for money and left home,” Honufa’s
brother Abdur Rashid said.
“On August 27, I went to the house of my sister and found it locked from
outside. Later, I informed police and they recovered the decomposing body of
my sister from the home,” he added.
Rashid on the same day filed the case with Hazaribagh Police Station
against his nephew Mobarak, who was arrested and later confessed to killing
his mother.
Later, Mobarak, however, managed to secure bail and went underground.
The court today came up with the judgement after examining 12 witnesses on
different occasions.
