BCB to conduct camp with potential DPL players

DHAKA, May 5, 2019 (BSS)- The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is all set to
conduct a camp with the leading performers of the Dhaka Premier League (DPL)
in a bid to get them ready to play in the Bangladesh A team and thereafter in
the national team.

The three-week long camp begins on May 11, according to BCB Cricket
Operations Chairman Akram Khan. The players who showed good performance in
the DPL will be called up for the camp.

“We are planning to select a squad with the leading performers of the DPL
to have an extensive training session,” Akram Khan revealed.

“The plan is to groom the potentials for our Bangladesh A team as we have a
home series against Afghanistan and an away series in Sri Lanka,” he said.

The target is to create a healthy pipeline for the national team, Akram
informed.

“If we see some of them have the potential to represent our A team than
certainly we would include them in the A team along with some experienced
campaigners as we want to have healthy pipeline for our national team,” he
disclosed.

The “A” team is expected to be announced by the national selectors for the
upcoming home series against Afghanistan ‘A’ that is comprised with two four-
day matches and three one-day games.

“We are preparing the squad and we are putting emphasis on players that are
under 30 years but certainly we did not decided to have any age cap as far as
selecting the squad is concerned,” said selector Habibul Bashar.

Meanwhile, the selectors will soon announce the High Performance squad for
the High Performance programme that is expected to feature Under-23
cricketers.
