Complete projects on time: Mannan
RANGPUR, May 2, 2019 (BSS) – Planning Minister M A Mannan at a views-exchange meeting here today directed officials concerned to complete ongoing projects within the stipulated period ensuring transparency and accountability.
“Implementation of ongoing projects must be completed within the stipulated time so that common people could enjoy benefits,” Mannan said while addressing the meeting held at conference of the Deputy Commissioner in the city as the chief guest.
The Implementation Monitoring and Evaluation Division (IMED) of the Ministry of Planning organised the meeting titled “Progress assessment of implementation of the ongoing development projects in Rangpur division.”
The Minister said the project directors must have to implement the project works remaining in the project areas and they have to take responsibility so that common people would not have any doubt about quality of the project works.
“Currently, 47 projects are being implemented at a cost of Taka 12 thousand 39 crore and 32 lakh. Of them, Taka one thousand 724 crore and 58 lakh have been allocated during the current 2018-2019 financial year,” he said.
Earlier, while talking to local journalists after his arrival here, the Planning Minister said the present government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has a special focus on development of Rangpur division.
“The government is doing everything for development of Rangpur division. There are more opportunities to explore for development of this region. Necessary support will be extended to local entrepreneurs if they come forward,” he added.
With Divisional Commissioner Mohammad Joynul Bari in the chair, IMED Secretary Abul Mansur Mohammad Faizullah, Planning Commission Member Abul Kalam Azad, Director General of Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics Dr. Krishna Gayen, senior officials of IMED, Deputy Commissioners of all eight districts and project directors of Rangpur division and other senior officials were present in the meeting. Earlier, the Minister visited the implementation works of Rangpur Rural Development Academy at Taraganj upazila on the way to Rangpur from the Syedpur Airport.
Later, the minister exchanged views with officials and employees of Rangpur Divisional Office of Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics in the afternoon.
