May Day observed in Panchagarh
PANCHAGARH, May 1, 2019(BSS) – The historic May Day was observed in the Panchagarh district town amid huge festivities with a renewed pledge for ensuring rights, welfare and work place security of working people.
The day is being observed across the world every year since 1886 commemorating the supreme sacrifices of the workers at Hay Market, Chicago in the United States to establish the rights of eight -hour working day and uphold the rights of working class.
To mark the day, District administration arranged the programme and brought out a procession from DC office which paraded the different roads of the town.
Different workers group, trade unions, socio-culture and professional organizations took part in the procession and later a discussion meeting was held to emphasize the importance of May Day.
Parliament Member from Panchagarh 1, constituency Mojaharul Houque Prodhan, Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Panchagarh Sabina Yasmin, Police super Gias Uddin Ahamed also took part in the rally.
