CTTCU investigating Gulistan blasts: DMP chief

DHAKA, April 30, 2019 (BSS) – Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Asaduzzaman Mia today said the Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime Unit (CTTCU) of the DMP is investigating the Gulistan’s bomb explosion that injured three policemen last evening.

“Work is on . . . whether it (explosion) was committed to make any issue of the fanaticism,” he told newsmen at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) after visiting his injured fellow colleagues there.

He said police are investigating the claim of Islamic State blasting those bombs in public. “Yesterday’s crude bomb was fully different,” the DMP chief said, adding, “A drive is underway to arrest the culprits.”

Three police men were injured as a crude bomb went off near Gulistan Cinema Hall around 7.35pm during load-shedding.

Injured traffic constables Nazrul Islam, 45, and Md Liton, 42,and community police member Md Ashik, 28. They are undergoing treatment at DMCH and out of danger now, police said.
