Stocks rebound on both bourses

DHAKA, April 30, 2019 (BSS) – After witnessing a downward trend in the last two consecutive sessions, stocks today rebounded in the Dhaka and Chittagong stock exchanges as investors remained active on sector-wise issues.

The broader DSEX of DSE closed the day with 27.39 points up at 5,202.85. The blue-chip DS30 and the Shariah DSES also followed the same trend with 10.92 points up at 1,846.67 and with 6.33 points up at 1,205.15 respectively.

At the DSE, out of the day’s 347 securities, prices of 194 securities closed higher against 106 losing issues while 47 remained unchanged.

The volume of shares rose to 10.89 crore from Monday’s 8.01 crore shares and the daily turnover in value at DSE increased to Taka 415.17 crore from Monday’s Taka 298.61 crore.

The top five gainers were NFML, ECABLES, Provati Insurance, Metro Spinning and Advent. The top five losers were Generation Next, Malek Spinning, USMANIAGL, Miracle Industries and Berger PBL.

National Polymer topped the turnover list followed by BRAC Bank, GENEXIL, Monno Ceramics and Fortune. In the port city, CSE also closed higher with its major CASPI 43.33 points up at 15,912.87. A total of 238 issues were traded at the CSE. Of those, 127 closed higher and 89 closed lower while 22 remained unchanged.

A total of 65.73 lakh shares and mutual fund issues changed hands for Taka 17.49 crore.
