DHAKA, April 30, 2019 (BSS)- State Minister for aviation and tourism M Mahbub Ali today said there will be no compromise in ensuring security at the country’s airports.

“No one will be exempted if anyone is found involved in security disruption at the airports,” he said while speaking at a fire extinguishing drill at Chattogram’s Shah Amanat International Airport, a press release said here.

He said the airport staffs must keep in their mind that the country’s image depends on the security system at its airports.

Referring to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s “zero tolerance” stance against corruption, the state minister warned that stern action will be taken if any airport staff is found guilty of corruption.

Mahbub directed the staffs to ensure that passengers are not victims of harassments at the airport.

The government has built wider cargo apron, established modern radar station and set up advanced security system at the Shah Amanat International Airport, Ali said.

A project has also been taken to construct a link road from Chattogram city to the airport, he added.

A total of 16.93 lakh passengers used the Shah Amanat International Airport while 7918 tonnes cargo were handled in 2018 that was 2.8 and 7.4 percent higher compared to the previous year.
