Three Indian nationals extradited after 14 yrs in jail

HOBIGONJ, April 30, 2019 (BSS)- Bangladesh Border Guard (BGB) and police handed over three Indian nationals to Indian Border Security Force (BSF) here today after completion of their 14 years imprisonment in jail.

The Indian nationals were sent back to India through Balla check post of Chunarughat Upazila this afternoon, OC of Chunarughat thana KM Ajmiruzzaman said.

The extradited Indian nationals are- Bhukku Deb Barma, Manjak Deb Barma and Tekkak Deb Barma of Dhalai Sub Division of Indian State of Tripura.

Six Indian nationals with firearms were arrested 15 years back who were identified as members of a separatist group of Tripura. A Bangladesh court later awarded them 14 years imprisonment each for illegal trespass and possession of illegal arms.

Out of those six Indian nationals, one was sent back to home through Indian High Commission in Bangladesh one and a half years ago and two more were sent back one months ago.

Meanwhile, India today has sent back a Bangladeshi citizen who was detained in India two months ago. He was identified as Ranjan Khan, son of Abdul Malek of Sundarpur Village of Chunarughat Upazila.
