Preparation complete to observe May Day in Rangpur

RANGPUR, April 30, 2019 (BSS) – All preparations have been completed to
observe the historic May Day-2019 tomorrow in the district with a fresh
pledge to build unity among owners and workers to vow for development of the
country.

“The Regional Labour Office jointly with district administrations will
bring out a huge rally on the city streets followed by a discussion in
observance of the day,” Deputy Director of Regional Labour Office, Rangpur
Mohammad Sadekuzzaman told BSS today.

Besides, different organisations of workers, labourers, owners of
industries, factories and traders, professionals, socio-cultural, political
and human rights’ organisations and NGOs have taken colourful programmes to
observe the day.

The programmes include hoisting of the national and organizational flags
and red flags, rallies, human chains, serving improved diets to workers,
discussions and cultural functions in the divisional city, upazila
headquarters, industries and factories.

Leaders of different workers’ organisations said they will bring out
dozens of colourful processions on the city streets before gathering at the
Central Shaheed Minar premises where a discussion on importance of the day
will be organised.

Jatiya Sramik League will bring out a rally bearing banners, placards and
chanting slogans in favour of working people demanding for establishing their
legitimate socioeconomic and human rights, safety and security at workplaces.

The district and city units of Jatiya Rickshaw Van Sramik League,
Sommilito Garments’ Sramik Federation, Jatiya Bidyut Sramik League, Sonali
Bank Sramik League, Uttara Bank Sramik League and Janata Bank Sramik League
will organise processions.

The district units of Auto Rickshaw Sramik Oikko Jyote, Truck and Tank
Lorry Sramik League, Krishi-Farm Sramik Federation, Dokan Karmochari Union,
Swarno Shilpi Samity, Electronic Sramik Union, Rang-Mistri Nirman Sramik
Union, Restaurant Sramik and Workers’ Union and other organisations will also
observe the day.

The district and city units of Awami League (AL), its associate bodies,
Communist Party, Workers’ Party, Bangladesher Samajtantrik Dal, Ganatantry
Party and other parties, labour and trade organisations will observe the day.

Deputy Director of Regional Labour Office, also Register of Trade Unions,
Mohammad Sadekuzzaman said the main discussion will be arranged at Town Hall
auditorium in the city at noon with Deputy Commissioner Enamul Habib in the
chair.

Divisional Commissioner Muhammad Joynul Bari will attend the discussion as
the chief guest.

Mohammed Sadekuzzaman will deliver welcome speech while Deputy Inspector
General of the Department of Inspection for Factories and Establishments Soma
Roy will discuss importance of the historic May Day in the discussion.

Later in the afternoon, the Deputy Commissioner will attend another
discussion at the Central Shaheed Minar premises as the chief guest with
President of the district unit of Jatiya Sramik League Abdus Salam Sarker in
the chair.

Leaders of AL and its associate bodies, different workers’ organisations,
human rights activists, political leaders, civil society members,
professionals and elite will address the discussion highlighting the
importance of the day.
