Biman Capt Ishtiaque made executive VP of IFALPA

DHAKA, April 29, 2019 (BSS) – Commander of Boeing 777 aircraft fleet of Biman Bangladesh Airlines Captain Ishtiaque Hossain has been elected as the Executive Vice President (VP) (Asia Pacific) of International Federation of Airline Pilots Association (IFALPA) for the second consecutive term.

Till now, none of the airline pilots of this sub-continent was elected even for a single term in this highest professional post, a Biman press release said here today.

The national flag carrier captain was elected through direct voting procedure recently at the Annual Conference of the IFALPA at Berlin, Germany, attended by 550 delegates throughout the world.

He will be responsible for the aviation sector of the Asia Pacific countries like Australia, China, Hong Kong, Fiji, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Mongolia, Malaysia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Singapore, Thailand and all of the SAARC countries.

Montreal-Canada based IFALPA, the Global Voice of the Pilots works closely with the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) a specialized agency of the United Nations Organization and International Labour Organization (ILO).

Captain Ishtiaque is also the First Bangladeshi who is a full member of ‘International Society of Air Safety Investigators (ISASI)’ a United States based sole organization specifically created for the air safety investigators.

Bangladesh Airlines Pilot Association (BAPA) in a separate statement congratulated Captain Ishtiaque Hossain for his outstanding achievement.
