Top JMB operative held in Chirirbandar

RANGPUR, April 29, 2019 (BSS) – Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-13 arrested a presumed top operative of the banned militant outfit Jama’atul Mujahedeen Bangladesh (JMB) from Nashratpur Paikpara village in Chirirbandar upazila of Dinajpur last night.

“The Militancy Cell of RAB-13 from its Rangpur battalion headquarters jointly with Crime Prevention Company (CPC)-1 of RAB-13 at Dinajpur Camp conducted a raid and arrested the JMB operative from the spot,” a press release said here today.

The elite force seized huge ‘jihadi’ books and leaflets from his possession during the raid.

The arrested JMB operative is Md. Harunur Rashid alias Harun Munshi, 39, son of Md. Abdul Hakim of village Dakshin Sukhdebpur in Chirirbandar upazila of Dinajpur district.

“During primary interrogation, Harun admitted that he had been secretly enlisting new members and collecting tolls for organisational activities for a long time. They are now trying to become organised,” the release said.

“We are conducting secret investigation about other absconding members of the organisation,” ANM Imran Khan, Media Officer at RAB-13 battalion headquarters told BSS adding that the arrested person was produced before a Dinajpur court today.
