RANGPUR, Apr 28, 2019 (BSS) – Health experts at a discussion today said community clinics are ensuring essential health services to rural people earning their solid confidence in last ten years.
They were addressing the post-rally discussion arranged in observance of the Community Clinic Establishment Day- 2019 at conference room of the Civil Surgeon in the city.
The divisional health administration organised the rally and discussion with assistance of Community Clinic Health Assistance Trust of Community Based Heath Care of the Directorate of Health under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
District Council Chairman Advocate Chhafia Khanom attended the discussion as the chief guest with Divisional Director (Health) Dr Amal Krishna Saha in the chair.
Divisional Detector of the Department of Family Planning Md Mahbub Alam and Panel Mayor of Rangpur City Mahmudur Rahman Titu addressed as special guests.
Civil Surgeon Dr Abu Md Zakirul Islam, Deputy Civil Surgeon Dr Kaniz Sabiha and Medical Officer Dr Imran Mian spoke.
Earlier, health officials, members of community clinic managing committees (CCMCs), Community Health Care Providers (CHCPs) and civil society members participated in the rally that paraded city streets.
The Civil Surgeon discussed the epoch-making community clinic vision of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for reaching health services to rural people of all ages at their doorsteps.
“The 309 community clinics provided treatments and medicines to 22-lakh people, including under-five babies, children, adolescents, pregnant women, men and women in 2018 in the district last year and the number would increase this year,” he said.
The Community Skilled Birth Attendants, who are also CHCPs, conducted safe delivery of over 600 pregnant mothers at 48 community clinics of the district till last year earning solid confidence of the rural people of the district, he added.
Dr Saha said community clinics are also providing services on maternal and neonatal healthcare, childhood illness, reproductive health, family planning, nutritional education, micro-nutrient supplements and establishing referral linkage with higher facilities.
“The community clinics have won confidence of rural people by reaching necessary health services to their doorsteps and making them satisfied with free health services and medicines,” Dr Saha added.
The chief guest called upon CHCPs, health volunteers and assistants for reaching health services to rural people at community clinics to achieve the sustainable development goals on way to build a healthier and prosperous nation.
