40,37,429 taxpayers in the country: Kamal
SANGSAD BHABAN, April 28, 2019 (BSS) – Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal today said at present
there are 40,37,429 taxpayers in the country, stating that various measures have already been
undertaken to identify new taxpayers and boost the revenue collection.
“….aiming to accelerate the revenue collection, the Income Tax Fair was held across the country on
November 13-19 in 2018. The Income Tax Day was observed on November 30, 2018,” the finance
minister said while responding to a starred question placed by treasury bench lawmaker Ali Azam of
Bhola-2 in the House here with Speaker Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury in the chair.
Noting that efforts continue to increase the number of taxpayers by conducting survey activities, he
said taxpayers are being awarded every year to encourage them to pay tax.
Kamal said meetings and discussions are being held regularly with professionals, businessmen and
other stakeholders concerned with a view to increasing the number of taxpayers.
