Ailing singer Subir Nandi to be taken to Singapore at PM’s directives

DHAKA, April 28, 2019 (BSS) – Critically ill legendary singer Subir Nandi
will be taken to Singapore tomorrow for better treatment at the directives of
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

“Ekushey Padak-winning singer Subir Nandi, now undergoing treatment at
the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Dhaka, will be flown to Singapore
tomorrow for better treatment by an air ambulance at the directives of Prime
Minister Sheikh Hasina,” PM’s Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim told BSS.

Musician and composer Subir Nandi was admitted to Dhaka CMH on April 14
after he suffered a massive heart attack.

Since then, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is constantly monitoring the
treatment of the critically ill singer.

Earlier, on behalf of the prime minister, her Special Assistant Barrister
Biplab Barua went to the CMH to enquire about the treatment of Subir Nandi.

On April 19, singers Kumar Biswajit, Tapan Chowdhury, Rafiqul Alam and
noted physician Dr Samanta Lal Sen met the premier at Ganabhaban to apprise
her of the updates of the treatment of the legendary singer.

The prime minister directed Dr Samanta Lal Sen to send all medical
papers of Subir Nandi to Singapore and take opinion of the expert physicians
of that country. “Steps will be taken later accordingly,” she said.

Sheikh Hasina told them that earlier she extended all kinds of
cooperation for Subir Nandi’s treatment for two times in 1998.
