Signal two for maritime ports as ‘Fani’ likely to intensify

DHAKA, April 28 2019 (BSS) – Maritime ports of Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla and Payra have been advised to keep hoisted distant warning signal number two as the cyclonic storm “Fani” over the southeast Bay and adjoining areas is likely to intensify further and move in the northwesterly direction.

All fishing boats and trawlers over the North Bay and deep sea have been advised to proceed with caution till further notice, said a latest bulletin of the Met office.

The sea will remain very rough near the cyclone centre while the maximum sustained wind speed within 54 kms of the cyclone centre is about 62 kph rising to 88 kph in gusts or squalls.

The bulletin said Fani was centred at 12pm today (28 April, 2019) about 1695 km south of Chattogram port, 1620 km south of Cox’s Bazar port, 1675 km south of Mongla port and 1635 km south of Payra Port.
