Three Rohingya militants sentenced to 10-year jail

DHAKA, April 28, 2019 (BSS) – A Dhaka court today sentenced three Rohingya militants to 10-year imprisonment each in a case filed under Explosive Substances Act.

Dhaka 4th special tribunal judge Md Robiul Alam passed the order, also fining them Taka 10,000 each, to suffer six months jail in default.

The convicts are Md Nur Hossain, 30, Yasir Arafat, 26, and Omar Karim, 29. Of the three, Karim is yet to be arrested. All the three hailed from Akiyab district of Myanmar.

Nur and Arafat were arrested on November 30 in 2014, from Etimkhana road area of Lalbagh and four others including Karim managed to flee the scene. Police found explosives substances like Potassium Chloride and Arsenic Disulfide from their possessions at that time.

Police filed the case with Lalbagh Police Station the next day.

According to the case documents, the convicts are members of militant outfits like RSO, GRC and ARU and they were gathered here to commit subversive acts.
