Six killed in Chandpur road accident
CHANDPUR, April 28, 2019 (BSS) – All six passengers of a CNG-run auto-rickshaw were
killed and its driver was critically injured when the rickshaw collided head on with a
bus at Shahrasti Upazila of the district today.
The accident took place at Kakoirtala Bazar area on Chandpur-Cumilla highway at
about 10 am, OC of Shahrasti police station said.
Four passengers of the auto-rickshaw died on the spot while one person succumbed to
injuries on way to hospital. Another person died at Shahrasti Upazila health Complex.
Injured driver of the auto-rickshaw was admitted to Cumilla Medical College.
Five deceased persons were identified as Ranjit Chqandra, 52, office assistant of
Panchagram Azizur Rahman High School, Fakhrul Islam, 75, Abul Kalam, 62, Jannatul
Ferdous, 28 and her son Ruman, 8. Names of other victim could not be known immediately.
Jannat Ferdous met the tragic accident on the way to her son’s school Kaliapara
Bidya Niketan. Ruman’s father, a resident of Bhavanipur of Kachua Upazila, is an
expatriate worker and came home few days ago, relatives said.
Police seized the bus and auto-rickshaw which has on registration.
