14th death anniversary of veteran politician Abdus Samad Azad

DHAKA, April 27, 2019 (BSS) -The 14th anniversary of death of Abdus Samad Azad, a close associate of Bangabandhu and one of the organizers of Liberation War and first foreign minister of independent Bangladesh, was observed today in a befitting manner.

Marking the day, AL leaders and workers and family members placed wreaths at the grave of Samad Azad at Banani graveyard in the morning. Fateha and special monajat was also offered seeking eternal peace of the soul.

AL Presidium Member and Agriculture Minister Dr Abdur Razzak, Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen, AL Acting General Secretary Mahbub-ul-Alam Hanif, Organizing Secretary Abu Sayeed Al Mahmud Swapan, Labour Affairs Secretary Habibur Rahman Siraj, Deputy Office Secretary Barrister Biplab Barua ad Dhaka City South AL General Secretary Shahe Alam Murad, among others, were present on the occasion.

Besides, Dhaka City North and South units of Awami Jubo League, Swechchhasebak League, Bangladesh Chhatra League, different social, cultural and political organisations placed wreaths at the grave of Samad Azad.

A milad and doa mahfil was arranged at the Lake Circus Jame Mosque at Kalabagan here after Asr prayers.

Samad was born on January 15 in 1926 at Bhurakhali village under Jagannathpur upazila in Sunamganj district. On April 27, 2005, he passed away.
