Thailand’s tourism body, Ministry of Commerce sign trade, tourism alliance
MoU

BANGKOK, April 26, 2019 (BSS/Xinhua) – Thailand’s tourism body said on
Thursday it had signed a “Trade and Tourism Alliance” memorandum of
understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of Commerce (MOC) to integrate
development strategies and marketing promotions while establishing links
between trade and tourism.

The Tourism Authority of Thailand signed the MoU with six departments
under the ministry. The move aims to support and facilitate services on trade
and investment information plus activities deemed beneficial for the
expansion of international trade as well as tourism promotion and
development.

Under the MoU, all parties will cooperate on providing support for the
health and wellness, and gems and jewelry sectors through various online and
offline activities.

The dual will also jointly organize marketing activities for agricultural
and food products (both community and seasonally-based), Geographical
Indication (GI) products and all tourism-relevant products and services
through activities including fruit fairs or border trade fairs that are of
equal interest to both Thai and foreign visitors. The coordination will
include marketing promotion, public relations, data integration and providing
knowledge to local entrepreneurs to develop products in line with their own
communities and tourism destinations.

The partnership is one of the government’s ongoing efforts to stimulate
domestic consumption and draw more foreign tourists to offset lower export
prospects.
