National cricketers given two-day rest

DHAKA, April 25, 2019 (BSS)- The national players who played the recently concluded Dhaka Premier League (DPL) were given two days rest to keep them freshen up as they would have to gear up for a grueling International cricket which includes a tri-nation series in Ireland and ICC Cricket World Cup.

The players will back in action on Sunday to have a two-day practice before leaving the country for Ireland on May 1. Hosts Ireland and West Indies are the two opponents of Bangladesh in tri-nation tournament, which is considered a good build-up tournament for the World Cup.

“First of all, we have reduced the numbers in the early part of the camp. A lot of the guys have been playing in the DPL, a tough competition in searing heat. They need a tiny little break. I would have loved to do a lot of skill work with them,” Bangladesh head coach Steve Rhodes said.

“We concentrated on the guys who were quite fresh. It has gone quite well. You get a lot of work done with less number. We will have two days with lot of the guys together. I think by the time we play a proper game in Ireland on May 7, we will be ready.”
