HC asks BTRC to submit report on mobile tower radiation
DHAKA, April 25, 2019 (BSS) – The High Court today asked Bangladesh
Telecom Regulatory Commission (BTRC) to conduct a survey on the radiation
from the mobile phone towers and its impact on people and environment, and
submit the report within four months.
Justice Syed Refaat Ahmed and Justice Md Iqbal Kabir passed the order
after holding hearing on a wit filed in this regard.
Lawyers Ekhlas Uddin Bhuiyan, Sarwar Ahad Chowdhury had filed the writ
for rights group Human Rights and Peace for Bangladesh (HRPB). Advocate
Manjil Morshed moved the case before the court.
The court in its order asked BTRC to conduct survey on the radiation
coming from mobile towers raised on the buildings beside educational
institutes, hospitals, playing fields and offices.
