Zayan’s body reaches home from Sri Lanka

DHAKA, April 24, 2019 (BSS) – The body of Awami League Presidium Member Sheikh Fazlul Karim Selim’s grandson Zayan Chowdhury, 8, who was killed in recent Sri Lanka blast, reached here this noon.

“An aircraft (UL 189) of Sri Lankan Airlines carrying the body of Zayan arrived at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport here at 12:40 pm today. . . Later his body was taken to Banani residence,” Sheikh Selim’s younger brother Sheikh Fazlur Rahman Maruf told BSS.

Former Minister and Zayan’s grandfather Sheikh Fazlul Karim Selim and Sheikh Helal Uddin, MP, received the body at the airport. Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen was present at that time.

Besides, Awami League (AL) Advisory Council Member Tofail Ahmed, AL acting General Secretary Mahbub-Ul-Alam Hanif, former Railways Minister M Mujibul Haque, Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Mayor Atiqul Islam and Director General of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) Benazir Ahmed, were also present.

A class two student of an Uttara school, Zayan was a son of Moshiul Haque Chowdhary and Sheikh Sonia, will be buried at the Banani graveyard following his namaz-e-janaza at Banani Chairmanbari ground after Asr prayer.

Moshiul Haque also suffered splinter injuries in kidney and liver in the deadly terror attack in Sri Lanka’s capital on Easter Sunday, killing at least 300 people and injured several hundred others.
