Two Hong Kong democracy leaders jailed for 16 months
HONG KONG, April 24, 2019 (BSS/AFP) – Two prominent leaders of Hong Kong’s
democracy movement were jailed on Wednesday for their role in organising mass
pro-democracy protests in 2014 that paralysed the city for months and
infuriated Beijing.
Sociology professor Chan Kin-man, 60 and law professor Benny Tai, 54, were
both handed 16-month jail sentences by Judge Johnny Chan at West Kowloon
Magistrates Court.
