Foreigners to visit Genocide Corner

DHAKA, April 23, 2019 (BSS) – The Foreign Affairs Ministry will bring
the visiting foreign dignitaries including head of states or government,
ministers, members of parliaments and diplomats to the newly set up ‘Genocide
Corner’ in the historic building at Shugondha in the capital, from now on.

Besides, students of different educational institutes can also visit the
centre upon taking permission from the authority to know more about genocide,
a foreign affairs ministry press release said here today.

The government opened a ‘Genocide Corner’ at Shugondha, now Foreign Service
Academy, remembering the 3 million victims of genocide of 1971, the second
worst genocide since WWII during the first ever “Foreign Service Day” on
April 18 last.

Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen said the government has set up the
Genocide Corner for the first time in the history of 48-year of independence
to recall the memories of the martyrs those were killed during the genocide
in 1971.

Bangladesh called upon the United Nations (UN) to officially recognise
the mass killings by the Pakistani occupation army during the Liberation War
in 1971 as genocide.
