RMP seeks community support to uproot crimes

RAJSHAHI, April 23, 2019 (BSS) – Rajshahi Metropolitan Police (RMP) officials have sought community support to make the society free from all sorts of crimes including terrorism, extremism and drug abuses.

They said integrated efforts of police and common people, including students, can root out the existing social menaces like child marriage and violence against women.

They came up with the observation while addressing a view-sharing meeting with leaders of community policing at RMP Headquarters here today.

RMP Commissioner Humayun Kabir and Community policing leaders Professor Abdul Khaleque, Dr Abdul Mannan, Dr Sheikh Tabibur Rahman and Meer Iqbal addressed the meeting as focal persons.

RMP Deputy Commissioners Tanveer Haider Chowdhury, Amir Zafar, Abu Ahmad Al Mamun, Alamgir Hossain and Anirban Chakma also spoke on the occasion.

Humayun Kabir is intended to intensify the activities of community
policing to prevent crimes from the society, adding that community policing was very important for resolving social problems and combating crimes.

He said joint efforts of police and people can curb anti-social activities to build a crime-free society. He stressed the need for boosting relationship between police and people and exploring the opportunities of community policing for strengthening law and order situation in the society.

The community based policing had been introduced in the metropolis with a noble view, but the community people should take the responsibility of making it effective.
