Next hearing in blogger Wasikur murder trial April 30
DHAKA, April 23, 2019 (BSS) – A Dhaka court today adjourned till April
30 the hearing of a case lodged over the murder of blogger Wasikur Rahman
Babu.
Dhaka 3rd metropolitan magistrate Robiul Alam set the date allowing a
time plea of the prosecution.
Today was fixed for recording depositions of new prosecution witnesses.
But the state side could not produce any witnesses today, instead filed a
time plea.
The court has so far examined 22 prosecution witnesses in the case.
Babu was murdered on his way to office from his Tejgaon Begunbari house
on March 30, 2015. Police with the help of locals managed to detain two
killers Zikrullah and Ariful Islam, red handed from the spot. Three machetes
were recovered from their possessions at that time.
Babu’s brother-in-law Monir Hossain on that day filed a murder case with
Tejgaon Police Station and the detainees were later shown arrested in that
case.
Detective branch (DB) of police on September 1, 2015, filed charge sheet
against five members Zikrullah, Ariful Islam, Saiful Islam, Hasib Abdullah,
Abu Taher Zunayed, banned militant outfit Ansarullah Bangla Team (ABT).
The court on July 20, 2016, framed charges against the accused.
