DHAKA, April 22, 2019 (BSS) – The Election Commission (EC) will start updating voter list in the country from tomorrow with several phases.
“Those who will be 18-year-old, will be included in the updated voter list to be published in 2020,” EC secretary Helaluddin Ahmad told BSS here today.
He said the first phase voter list update activities will be begin from April 23 to May 13 in 135 upazilas/thanas and election commission officials will collect information visiting households.
Besides, the officials will collect information of those people who were left from the last voter list update activities, the secretary said, adding, “During the update activities deceased voters will also be excluded from the updated list.”
He said that transgender (Hijra) community will be able to get registration themselves in the voter list as Hijra and after collection of information through visiting households, fingerprint activities will be continued from May 25 to October 30.
Helaluddin also added that now a total of 10,41,42,381 voters, including 5,25,12,105 male and 5,16,30,276 female across the country.
