US ambassador visits BN SWADS command

DHAKA, April 18, 2019 (BSS)- The closing ceremony of US-Bangladesh Navy Special Operation Forces’ Joint Exercise “EX TIGER SHARK”, was held on Thursday at BNS NIRVIK- the special force base of Bangladesh Navy.

The day was marked by a series of events, including a vivid and lively demonstration by the commandos of Bangladesh Navy (SWADS) and US Special Force.

The Commodore SWADS Command hosted the event, said an ISPR media release today.

US Ambassador to Bangladesh Earl Robert Miller witnessed the whole program as the special guest.

The Commander Chattogram Naval Area Rear Admiral M Abu Ashraf was the chief guest of the occasion.

Exercise Tiger Shark is a series of training support events conducted regularly by the US Military to enhance the operational capability of BN SWADS personnel. It has been conducted regularly since November 2009. The “EX TIGER SHARK”, this year commenced on March 24 over various naval bases of Chattogram and Kaptai.

A total of 30 SWADS personnel, including two officers, participated in the exercise.

They underwent various training which includes Dismounted Patrolling, Close Quarter Battle, Combat Marksmanship, Sensitive Site Explosion and Maneuver Live-Fire.

The US Ambassador handed over certificates to the participants on successful completion of the exercise.

In his speech, he appreciated the courage and efficiency of the BN SWADS commandos.

He hoped that US-Bangladesh friendship would be strengthened in the future. As an Ex-US Marine Officer, he wished to work hand in hand with Bangladesh Navy in achieving excellence.
