Provisional government soon got int’l recognition: AL leaders

RANGPUR, April 18, 2019 (BSS) – Leaders of Awami League (AL) and its
associate bodies at a discussion have said the provisional government-in-
exile, formed on April 17, 1971, soon paved the way to get international
recognition of the War of Liberation.

They made observation at the discussion organised the district unit of AL
at its office in the city on Wednesday night in celebration of the historic
Mujibnagar Day-2019.

Earlier, leaders of the district and city units of AL and its associate
bodies hoisted the national and party flags and placed wreaths at the
portraits of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and four
national leaders.

Acting President of district AL Mamtaz Uddin Ahmed presided over the
discussion moderated by its Office Secretary Tauhidur Rahman Tutul.

The leaders and workers of the district and city units of AL and its
associate bodies attended the discussion.

General Secretary of district AL Advocate Rezaul Karim Raju addressed the
discussion as keynote speaker narrating importance of formation of the
provisional government-in-exile at Baiddonathtola in Meherpur on that day in
1971.

Organising Secretaries of district AL Advocate Anwarul Islam and Motahar
Hossain Mandal Mowla, its Treasurer Abul Kashem, Education Affairs Secretary
Jashem Bin Hossain Jummon, Women Affairs Secretary Latifa Shawkat, General
Secretary of district Mohila AL Advocate Zakia Sultana Choite, President of
district Sramik League Abdus Salam Sarker, President of district Chhatra
League Mehedee Hasan Rony, addressed.

The speakers discussed significance of the day when the War of Liberation
got an unconquerable dimension and global acknowledgment with oath-taking of
the exile provisional government.

They said it was a historic moment when the national flag was hoisted
there after renaming Baiddonathtola as Mujibnagar in tribute to Bangabandhu
who was declared as President of the provisional government-in-exile on that
day.

They said after oath-taking of the provisional government-in-exile on
April 17, 1971 there in presence of freedom fighters and foreign journalists,
the War of Liberation began in an organised way under the newly formed
government.

Mamtaz Uddin stressed on disseminating true national history about long
struggles for independence to young generations to inspire them in building
an exploitation-free developed ‘Sonar Bangla’ as dreamt by Bangabandhu.
